Focke-Wulf Fw.190 “Würger” is a German single-seat single-engine piston monoplane fighter aircraft that was in service with the Luftwaffe during World War II. The Fw.190 fighters was successfully used in various roles, in particular as a high-altitude interceptor, escort fighter, attack aircraft, night fighter, and proved to be a real “workhorse” of the Nazi Luftwaffe.

 

Within Focke-Wulf company, aircraft types were given bird names as an additional description. Focke-Wulf Fw.190A received the name “Würger” – “Shrike”.
