Finnish infantrymen

 

Finnish infantrymen in the town of Tornio, Finland, in battle against their former ally – the Nazi Wehrmacht – during the Lapland War.
Kemi’s commune and the nearby town of Tornio were the center of brutal street fighting at the beginning of the Lapland War between Finland and Germany. In the photo the soldiers are armed with a rifle of the Mosina-Nagant system 1891/30 and a submachine gun Suomi M/31.
