Fighters of self-defense

The English fighters formation of local self-defense units in the UK was announced on May 14, 1940, and within 24 hours a quarter of a million volunteers joined these teams. Initially, they did not have weapons, only distinctive bandages, although World War I veterans wore their medals with pride. Soon, local self-defense units were renamed the militia and these units entered the county military regiments.
