British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery (1887-1976) is near the M-38 “Messenger” plane. This color photograph of World War II was taken between 1943 and 1945.
Miles M-38 Messenger (Miles M.38 Messenger) was used for courier purposes and personal transport of senior command personnel. This M-38 (serial number RG333) was Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery’s personal aircraft.
After the aircraft had reached its end of life, the marshal again gave preference to the M-38.
The RG333 aircraft became famous for the fact that on the fifth day of the landing of British troops in Normandy, it delivered Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery to a very small bridgehead. A little later, Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower flew on this plane to inspect the battlefield. The M-38 was also the personal vehicle of Lord Talder, the RAF Marshal.
