The fall of the Martin B-26G-11MA Marauder bomber (serial number 43-34565) from the 497th squadron of the 344th bomber group of the 9th US Air Force, which was shot down by direct hit of an anti-aircraft projectile in the left engine during the bombing of the communications center in the city of Erkelenz, on the territory of the Third Reich.
