The Chance Vought F4U Corsair No. 32 fighter aircraft from the VF-85 Squadron of the US Navy “loses” its tail during an emergency landing on the American “Shangri-La” aircraft carrier (USS Shangri-La (CV-38). The Second World War in the Pacific ocean.
The cause of the emergency landing was damage to the fighter during a mid-air collision with its Chance Vought F4U Corsair from the “Yorktown” air group of an aircraft carrier during an air battle over the Japanese Naval base Kure (South-Western part of Honshu Island, Japan).
