The first aerial victory was won by Erich Rudorffer on May 14, 1940. In total, during the war years, he flew more than 1000 sorties, conducted 302 air battles, in which he won 222 victories (60 on the Western Front, 26 in North Africa and 136 on the Eastern Front).
This German fighter pilot was shot down 16 times, of which 9 times he left his plane with a parachute.
He is the seventh highest scoring aces in the Luftwaffe in the Third Reich.
