I-16 (CKB-12) “Fighter sixteenth”, “speed” (nickname: the donkey, “ishachok”, rata (Spanish – “rat”), mosca (Spanish – “fly”) – among the Spanish Republican) – Soviet single-engine piston monoplane fighter of the 1930s, created the Experimental Design Bureau of the Russian Soviet aircraft designer Nikolai Polikarpov. I-16 is the world’s first high-speed serial with retractable landing gear in flight.
