The cathedral in Lübeck in northern Germany damaged during the English bombardment.
The headline in the newspaper for this German photograph of the defeated cathedral in Lübeck called the raid on the city a “new crime against civilization”. This was the reason for the Germans to organize the so-called “Bedecker raids” (it was announced that the Nazis would bomb all buildings in England marked with three asterisks in Bedecker’s tourist guide).
