Colonel Charles Henry “Mac” MacDonald, along with another pilot Al Nelson posing next to the McDonald’s fighter – Lockheed P-38J “Lightning”. 1944.
The real name of the P-38J is Putt Putt Maru.
Charles McDonald, the commander of the 475 fighter group, (November 23, 1914 – March 3, 2002) American ace, all in all he had 27 confirmed victories over Japanese aircraft and he took 3rd place in the number of victories among American pilots in the Pacific.
