Wetaskiwin Corvette construction began on April 11, 1940, launched on July 18, 1940, and was accepted into the Canadian Navy on December 17, 1940.

The Wetaskiwin corvette was used in the North Atlantic to accompany the Allied naval convoys between Halifax and the Western approaches, in particular SC42, SC48, ON115, SC109, HX233, HX305.
Wetaskiwin Corvette in a group of ships participated in the sinking of the German U-588 submarine.

Wetaskiwin Corvette was removed from the Canadian Navy in 1945.
