The frigate was built in the UK at Smiths Dock Co., Ltd., South Bank-on-Tees, U.K. for the Royal Navy of Great Britain.
Teme frigate, the construction began on May 25, 1943, launched on November 11, 1943, transferred to Canada and accepted into its navy on February 28, 1944.

Teme frigate was heavily damaged by the German submarine U-315 on March 29, 1945 off the coast of Great Britain and was declared irreparable.

The Teme frigate was withdrawn from the Canadian Navy on May 4, 1945 and returned to the UK, after which it was sold for scrap in December 1945.
