A Canadian Levis corvette (HMCS Levis) sinks after being hit by a torpedo from a German submarine from the Nazi Kriegsmarine.

Levis corvette was built in Canada. Construction began on March 11, 1940, launched on September 4, 1940, and was commissioned into the Canadian Navy on May 16, 1941.
The Levis corvette was used in the North Atlantic to escort Allied sea convoys between Halifax and Western approaches.
The Levis corvette was torpedoed while escorting the SC44 by the German submarine U-73 at 02:05 on September 19, 1941 in the North Atlantic (18 sailors were killed, 91 were saved). It finally sank at about 17:00.
The Levis Corvette is the first Flower-class corvette lost in battle.
