Comox minesweeper construction commenced on February 5, 1938, launched on August 9, 1938, accepted into the Canadian Navy on November 23, 1938.
Comox minesweeper, main characteristics: displacement – 460 tons, length – 50 m, width – 8.4 m, draft – 4.4 m. Maximum speed – 12 knots. Crew – 38 people. Armament – one 101.6 mm cannon (QF 4-inch Mk IV).
The Comox minesweeper was used in the coastal waters of Canada predominantly on the east coast. On January 15, 1945, SS Martin van Buren, torpedoed by the German submarine U-1232, took on board the surviving sailors from the American transport.
Comox minesweeper withdrawn from the Canadian Navy on 27 July 1945.
