The Canadian Arras trawler (HMCS Arras) of the Royal Navy belonged to the Battle class. It was built in Canada.
Arras trawler construction commenced on September 15, 1917, admitted to the Canadian Navy on July 5, 1918, decommissioned on April 1, 1919, re-admitted to the Royal Navy on September 11, 1939.
Main characteristics: displacement – 463 tons, length – 40 m, width – 7.6 m, draft – 4 m. Maximum speed – 10 knots. The crew is about 40 people. Armament – bow 76-mm 12-pounder cannon (QF 12 pounder 12 cwt), depth charges.
The “Arras” was used for anti-submarine patrols along the coast of Canada in the areas of Halifax and Sydney (Nova Scotia).
The trawler was withdrawn from the Canadian Navy in April 1946.
