Burning British “Empress of Asia” sea liner (displacement – 16909 tons), damaged in an attack by nine Japanese bombers in the vicinity of Singapore and sank on the day of the attack.
As a result of the attack on the “Empress of Asia” sea liner killed 27 people, 93 were wounded, 1804 were rescued by the approaching escort ships.

The naval liner sailed to Singapore besieged by the Japanese with reinforcements (about 1,500 from the British 18th Infantry Division) and military equipment.
