Boris Pirozhkov

 

Soviet fighter pilot of the 423rd Air Defense Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Red Army, Lieutenant Boris Pirozhkov (July 17, 1917 – September 04, 1942).

Boris Pirozhkov was a participant in the Great Patriotic War from the first day. Member of the defense of Moscow.
By September 1942, he made 242 sorties, shot down 5 enemy bombers in air battles. The squadron he commanded shot down 13 aircraft. On September 4, 1942, he rammed an enemy aircraft, but he himself received severe injuries and died from his wounds on the same day. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded on February 14, 1943 (posthumously).
