The bombs were dropped on the plant, the power plant and the adjacent railway station. One of the bombs exploded inside a high building, where three others fell, the American pilots did not notice. Due to insufficient fuel, Captain Edward J. York decided to fly to the territory of the USSR in the hope of refueling. The crew landed at the Primorsky airfield, 25 km from Vladivostok. The plane was confiscated by the Soviet side, and the crew was interned. American pilots were returned in May 1943.
