American pilots, Crew #10, who took part in the Doolittle Raid. The aircraft number is 40-2250. Target – Tokyo. 89th reconnaissance squadron.

Navigator-bombardier, Lieutenant Horace E. Crouch;
Flight Engineer Sergeant George E. Larkin Jr .;
Shooter: Staff Sergeant Edwin W. Horton Jr ..

Lieutenant Richard O. Joyce’s plane bombed the shops and warehouses of the Japan Special Steel Company. The first two 500-pound bombs hit the main facility, destroying several buildings. The third high explosive and the fourth incendiary bombs fell a quarter of a mile from the coastline on a block of industrial and residential buildings. Lieutenant Richard O. Joyce’s plane was attacked by 9 enemy fighters and was the only one damaged by anti-aircraft fire. The crew of Lieutenant Richard O. Joyce safely reached the territory of China and the American pilots jumped out with parachutes. With the help of local residents, American pilots were able to get to the assembly site only after 4 days. The aircraft crew continued to fight in Indochina until 1943.
