American bombers Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress from the 97th and 99th bomber groups are returning from the first combat mission of the Soviet-American Operation Frantic: American bombers taking off from the airfields on the territory of the USSR and bombing on Nazi military targets in Europe, they land on the airfield of Amendola in Italy. On the ground they are met, presumably, by General Ira C. Eaker.
