SS-Panzer-Division “Totenkopf” is a combination of SS troops. Formed in the period from October 16 to November 1, 1939 in the training camp of the SS in Dachau as a division of motorized infantry. The basis was formed by the ranks of the SS “Totenkopf“, as well as the officers of the reinforcement units of the SS and the SS-Heimwehr Danzig. The first commander of the SS-Panzer-Division “Totenkopf” was the founder of the concentration camp inspector Theodor Eike.
