The monument of gray boulders with a memorial plaque in 1918 was put by the former opponent of General A. Samsonov – German General Hindenburg, who commanded the Eighth German Army in August 1914, defeated Russian troops in 1914. The inscription in German on the board: “To General Samsonov, Hindenburg’s opponent in the Battle of Tannenberg, August 30, 1914.”
The plaque on the site of the death picture was taken by the Wehrmacht soldier. Poland, the surroundings of the town of Velbark.
