A German officer from the Nazi Wehrmacht is photographed on a captured French 240 mm St Chamond model 84/17 heavy cannon in the Battle of France during the Second World War.
Several of these 240 mm St Chamond model 84/17 artillery guns were used in the 1940 campaign. All of them were captured by the Nazis and under the designation 24 cm gun K.556 (f) were used in the coastal defense system of the Atlantic Wall.
