Young scout Peter Gurko (born in 1928) from the partisan detachment “For the power of the Soviets” (4th partisan regiment of the 2nd partisan brigade) before being awarded the medal “For Courage”.

The medal “For Courage” was awarded to the young partisan Peter Gurko on July 30, 1942 for valor and courage shown in two combat operations against German punitive expeditions. On June 13, 1942, Peter Gurko carried out two seriously wounded partisans with weapons from the battlefield and took them to the dressing station, which was 2 kilometers away.

In the background is the partisan Matvey Vasilievich Vasilyev (b. 1891), the chairman of the collective farm “Forward” of the Shushelovsky village center, Belebelkovsky district of the Leningrad region, awarded with the medal “For Military Service”.
