ISU-152 (Object 241) is a Soviet heavy self-propelled artillery gun (SAU) of the Second World War period. In the name of the combat vehicle, the letter “I”, in addition to the standard Soviet designation “SU” – self-propelled unit, means “on the chassis of the IS tank.” Self-propelled guns of the same caliber called SU-152 were produced on a different tank chassis. Index 152 means the caliber of the main armament of the vehicle.
