World War 2 photos – Soldiers of the US Army visiting the American fighter-bomber P-47 “Thunderbolt”, which was shot down over the German city of Würzburg and made an emergency landing. 12 armored division, 7th US Army.
Republic P-47 Thunderbolt – fighter-bomber of the Second World War, the largest single-engine fighter of those times. He was one of the main fighters of the US Air Force during the war. Thanks to the radial engine and the protected petrol tanks was distinguished by high survivability. By the end of the war, the P-47 was the most massive US fighter, and was also supplied to the USSR by lend-lease.
