World War 2 photo: American naval pilots are pleased with their victory in the battles for the Marshall Islands, posing near the tail of the F6F-3 Hellcat aircraft aboard the USS Lexington (CV-16) aircraft carrier.
Shortly before this photo was taken, US naval pilots shot down 17 of the 20 Japanese aircraft during the battle in the Tarawa Atoll area.
