On May 8, 1945, Hermann Goering and his family came to surrender to the location of the US Army 36th Infantry Division immediately after the cease-fire between the German G-Corps and the American 70th Division.
John Dalquist owned the German language, so he was the first of the Americans to personally interrogate Goering.
