After the combat operation of Aviation Group No. 80, which operated on the targets located on Formosa Island (Taiwan), USS Ticonderoga (CV/CVA/CVS-14) was hit by two strikes of Japanese kamikaze aircraft 120 miles southeast of Formosa.

The captain of the Ticonderoga aircraft carrier was injured.
