The unknown Russian partisan was executed by the Nazis through hanging on the power transmission line in the city of Mozhaisk. The inscription on the gates behind the hanged Russian partisan is “The Mozhaisky Cinema”.
The photograph was found in the personal belongings of Hans Elmann, a soldier of the 10th company of the 686th regiment of the 294th Infantry Division of the Wehrmacht (presumably), who died in battle for the village of Dmitrievka on the river Mius on March 22, 1943.
