The Battle of Kursk died a heroic death gunner Sergeant Nicholas Khitryh. Reflecting the attack of the enemy, fearless fighter destroyed six German tanks, including 3 “Tiger” heavy tanks. When, having beaten off the attack of the Germans, Soviet troops launched a counteroffensive, Nicholas Khitryh replaced the retired commander of the gun and killed a platoon of German infantry. Nicholas Khitryh was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of 2 degrees.
Nicholas Khitryh killed in the attack on the splinter mines. The Guards of the Order of Lenin plains-destroyers anti-tank brigade, which served as a guard sergeant Nicholas Khitryh, came the family of the hero – his wife Anna Nikolaevna Khitryh and children – Volodya Khitryh and Zoe Khitryh.
