The fall of the Japanese kamikaze aircraft behind the American Essex aircraft carrier (USS Essex (CV-9).
The photo was taken from the battleship South Dakota (USS South Dakota (BB-57).
All the sky in the explosions of anti-aircraft shells fired from the ships of the American 58th operational connection (TF 58), which supported the invasion of Okinawa.
