The explosion of a bomb

The explosion of a Japanese 250-kilogram bomb on the flight deck of the US aircraft carrier Enterprise (CV-6).

Contrary to popular opinion and the official signature under the photo, in many sources, that the bomb killed the photographer Robert Reed, photographed by her, Photographer’s Mate 3rd Class, Robert F. Read, this photograph was taken from a film camera by photographer Marion Riley (Photographer’s Mate 2nd Class Marion Riley). Reed was killed by a second bomb (the smoke from which is visible at the top photo), while on the gallery of 127-mm antiaircraft guns.
