The defense of Sevastopol: The Red Army defenders of the Russian fortified city near the monument to Admiral Kornilov on the Malakhov Kurgan.
Capturing Sevastopol, the Nazis destroyed the monument to Admiral Kornilov: the bronze part was taken to Germany, and the pedestal was blown up.
The monument to Admiral Kornilov was recreated by the Soviet authorities in 1983 to the 200th anniversary of Sevastopol.
