The crew leaves the burning and tilted aircraft carrier Lexington (CV-2) after attacks by Japanese carrier aviation on May 8, 1942 in the Coral Sea. The aircraft carrier Lexington was later flooded with USS Phelps (DD-360) destroyer torpedoes.
