The American aircraft carrier Lexington (CV-2) burns after falling into it five aerial bombs and two air torpedoes on May 8, 1942 in battle in the Coral Sea. The Lexington aircraft carrier was later flooded with USS Phelps (DD-360) destroyer torpedoes.
