The P-51D Mustang fighter technician from the 7th Air Army S/Sgt Anthony A. Belesi opens the K-ration box using a Ka-bar USMC knife.
K-Rations appeared in the American Army in 1943. The rations included: breakfast dishes (veal), lunch (canned meat) and dinner (sausage), with spices, cheese and crackers, sweets, chewing gum, soluble powders for making drinks , toilet paper and cigarettes.
