Commander of squadron from 566th Assault Aviation Regiment from 277th Assault Air Division of 13th Air Army of Leningrad Front is future twice Hero Soviet Union, Senior Lieutenant Vasily Mykhlik.

Mykhlik Vasily Ilich passed war as part of 566th assault aviation regiment, was a navigator, wing commander, squadron commander. I made 188 sorties. On February 23, 1945, rank Hero Soviet Union with Order Lenin and Gold Star medal (No. 5936) was conferred on senior lieutenant Mykhlik Vasily Ilich for exemplary fulfillment of command duties, courage, courage and heroism.

On Vasily Mykhlik’s initiative on aircraft of the regiment, the pilots drew a silhouette of the Peter and Paul Fortress with the signature “For Leningrad”.
