Soviet soldiers of the Red Army Infantry dismantle the Finnish border post near Mainila border post. In the background is the Sestra River.

By the Sestra River until 1940 was the state border of the Soviet Union and Finland. The artillery shelling of Soviet soldiers near the border village of Mainila on November 26, 1939 became the occasion for the beginning of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-40.
