A Soviet soldier near burning fragments of aircraft at the airfield in Poltava. Perhaps it’s an incendiary bomb.
Such bombs were dropped on the airfield during the German bombardment on the night of June 22, 1944.
In the background – broken and burned by bombing, as well as the surviving American B-17 bombers. Operation Frantic.
