The Ognevoy destroyer entered service at the end of the war – April 8, 1945, but managed to make war much earlier, in one of the most dramatic days of the war. Before the Nazis came to Nikolaev in August 1941, it was decided to use an unfinished destroyer to evacuate the families of workers and employees of factories. For this purpose, temporary accommodation was equipped on the ship, and the holds were loaded with bronze fittings and other valuable property.
