Soviet officers of the Red Army bury their comrades in a mass grave who died during the liberation of Belgrade from the Nazi occupiers.
The Republic Square. On the right is the Serbian Drama Theater, on the left is the corner of the People’s Museum building. In 1948, all the burial places of the Red Army in Belgrade were uncovered and the remains of Soviet officers and soldiers of the Red Army were transferred to the specially created “Belgrade Liberators Cemetery”. In place of this (largest) mass grave, a small birch square is currently located.
