Polikarpov I-16 fighter, fighter sixteenth, speed (nickname: ass, ishachok, rata (rat), mosca (Fly – among the Spanish Republican) is the Soviet single-engine piston Fighter monoplane of the 1930s, created the Experimental Design Bureau of the Russian-Soviet aircraft designer Nikolai Polikarpov. The world’s first serial high-speed monoplane fighter with retractable landing gear in flight.
