Marshal Karl Gustav Mannerheim leaves the building of the Finnish parliament after he was elected president of the country on August 4, 1944. On the sleeve of his tunic is sewn a chevron of the Civil Guard.
To the right of Marshal Mannerheim is Edwin Linkomies, Prime Minister of Finland.
