Pilot Antonov (1908-1942) is the Soviet fighter pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union (1940). Born January 24, 1908 in the village of Malakhovo Novgorod region. He is member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940, for which March 21, 1940 and was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
During World War II Major Yakov Antonov served as commander of the 84th A fighter regiment. August 25, 1942, he was shot down over the Mozdok in the I-153 biplane and, as the Soviet documents, was killed.
