Faye Shulman was born in a large family on November 28, 1919 in Poland. On August 14, 1942, the Germans killed 1850 Jews from the Lenin ghetto, including the parents of Faye Shulman, a sister and a younger brother. They spared only 26 people, including Faye Shulman. Later, Faye Shulman fled to the forest and joined a partisan group, consisting mostly of fugitive Soviet prisoners of war.
Fei Shulman became a nurse, although she did not have medical experience, and served from September 1942 to July 1944.
