Corporal from the US Marine Corps Virgil W. Burgess instructs his dog named Prince during the Battle of Iwo Jima. The dog is entrusted with the task of delivering a combat report fixed by a bandage on his body to one of the “fox holes” in the volcanic sand of the island.
