Corporal from the US Marine Corps with a service dog in the Battle of Iwo Jima

Corporal from the US Marine Corps Virgil W. Burgess instructs his dog named Prince during the Battle of Iwo Jima island.

The dog is entrusted with the task of delivering a combat report fixed by a bandage on his body to one of the “fox holes” in the volcanic sand of the island.
