Captured American Lockheed F-5E Lightning reconnaissance aircraft in the Nazi Luftwaffe

German airfield personnel are preparing to fly a captured American Lockheed F-5E Lightning reconnaissance aircraft (number 44-23725) of Lieutenant Martin James Monti, a deserter from the 354th Squadron of the US Air Force. On October 13, 1944, Monty deserted from his unit on his plane and landed at the airport of Milan-Lonate (Italy). The Italians handed over the captured aircraft to the Germans.

The Lockheed F-5E Lightning aircraft received the German designation T9 + MK.
