Burned down CVG-6 aircraft in the front hangar of the aircraft carrier “Hancock” (USS Hancock (CV-19).
April 7, 1945, the Japanese kamikaze pilot struck the left side of the aircraft carrier. 62 people were killed, 71 were injured. The aircraft carrier was returned to the US for repair.
