Pointe du Hoc

American soldiers (Rangers) and German POWs on the captured Pointe du Hoc in Normandy.

Pointe du Hoc is a promontory 6 km west of Omaha Beach. On it were 6 of the 155-mm guns, which were the main goal of the American soldiers. Stormed Pointe Pointe du Hock 2nd Battalion of Rangers. By June 7, when the battle was over, 90 of the 225 rangers of the battalion remained in the ranks.
